It is also known as conveyor belt or go-round sushi.

Sushi bars are a type of restaurants that are both famous and low-cost. Each plate of sushi usually costs about one hundred yen, or approximately one dollar for each plate. There are no menus or servers at these sushi bars. It is basically self service restaurant. You can do everything from your seat without ever need to stand up.

You may take your seat at any table. A conveyor belt located in front of these tables, serving sushi on plates that will go around continuously, usually clockwise. From this conveyor belt you may take any sushi you might like.

Special orders such as deserts, special types of sushi or sake can be ordered by on screen menu provided at the table by simply pressing the associated picture of the special order you want. The order will then delivered to you via secondary belt on the conveyer, usually located above the main belt, the belt that providing sushi.

The best timing to eat at sushi bars are when it is most packed, as the sushi will be consumed at freshest condition, and get replaced shortly after eaten. Some even have specially marked plates, to keep track of how long the plate have been served, and get the plates replaced if they have been placed too long at the conveyer.

When you finish with your meal, simply push final button to get your bill, which will simply count up based on the sushi plates you have taken. If you have taken ten sushi plates, then it will mean approximately ten dollars on your bill. Payment usually done up front at the cashier.
